Keion Turns 13

I'm really behind here. It's Thanksgiving today and I'm just getting around to Halloween.
Happy Thanksgiving, ya'll!
Keion's birthday was a lot of fun this year.
Grandma Jan was in town so she was able to celebrate with us.
Before Keion went trick-or-treating and his friends came over, we did the hunt for his presents.
We had some pretty good clues that were cracking us up. Any hidding place in the bathroom allows for good humor!
Here are a couple pics of Keion looking for his presents.

We know he liked at least one of the gifts he got!

Getting dressed for Trick-or-treating, this is the last year, I swear.

There really is something wrong with this picture. It cracks ( no pun intended!) me up.

Here are the boys right after they got back from collecting a "butt" (Keion's costume) load of candy. Way too much but most of it was chocolate so we were excited to raid the bags. The boys were watching a scary movie.

What else do you expect from teenage boys.

Pat and Norma stopped by.

The birthday cake that was an ice cream cake. Keion doesn't like cake so this is the next best thing, or even better in my opinion.

Make a wish.

I'm so happy the Pullins' introduce us to this brown bag game. The boys loved it.

They would do all that they could to distract each other.

It was such a fun night. This party made us realize why it is so important for us to get our basement finished. Boys are messy, loud and very obnoxious.
They are also a ton of fun.
Kylan, his mom, and I locked ourselves up in our room and watched a movie while the boys watched their scary movies downstairs. It was a great time.
I just realized I forgot to add the pics of Keion opening his gift from his great grandma. I'll have to get those on here. It is always Keion's favorite part about his birthday.

Under Construction...STILL

There are more reasons I was happy to have my mother in-law come visit,
but this was a BIG one!
Kylan and his mom worked on painting the basement and let me tell you,
they had a blast, can't you tell by the look on their faces???

The end is in site. I'm hoping that the basement is finished before Christmas.
More pics of all the construction that has been going on around here when
we finish.

To Wear A Cup Or Not..

This has been a long time coming.
I only hope that I can do the story justice and remember all of it.

It goes something like this...

(I should set this up a little more. Keion asked me one day if he needed to buy a cup for football. I told him I didn't think he needed one or that football players wore them. I guess several kids on his team wore cups. Anyway, he in the end said he was fine without one.)

Setting: In the car heading home after football practice.

Me: Keion, why don't you wear your long black socks I bought you? (it was cold outside and I had bought him some long, warm, black socks to wear when it was cold out)

Keion: I did use them.

Me: I didn't see you wearing them.

Keion: Well, uhhhmmm, I used them as a cup. For extra protection.

Me: What do you mean protection?

Keion: You know, like padding, like a cup.

Me: WHAT? You stuffed your socks down your pants?

Keion: Yes! Just in case I got hit or something.

Me: (tears rolling down my face) Did they fall out or anything, did anyone notice you putting them in there?

Keion: (now laughing too) No, they were inside my underwear, so they wouldn't fall out.

Me: (dying, I can hardly drive) That is disgusting! This is so funny, I wish this wouldn't be so embarrassing for you so I could blog about it.

Keion: Oh, I don't care. It shows how creative and resourceful I am!

Oh, he is resourceful alright. Where did he come up with this grand idea, heaven knows.

When Kylan got home later that night I had to recap it all over again. I could barely get it out I was laughing so hard. Kylan then told Keion about guys "stuffing" to look bigger like girls stuffing their bras. Keion was laughing hysterically. He finally saw how that could have been a bad situation if any of the other boys saw what he had done.
Kylan joked that he was going to buy Keion an early birthday present, a cup. Keion then said "no, you can just buy me a pair of tube socks, wool ones!"
I don't think Keion knows how wool feels or he would have picked something more like cashmere!
This kid is something else.
I should have written this down right away because I know I'm missing some parts and it's just not as funny but hopefully you get a little chuckle out of it.

Halloween 09

I haven't had time to get Halloween and Keion's birthday pictures up.
I'm hoping this week I can accomplish that. I also want to write
about the funny conversation we had over wearing a cup in football.
You won't want to miss it, I promise!

Futbol & Football

There are many things I love about the Fall. The next two pictures are one reason.

We also enjoy the Fall sports.
Keion got this nasty raspberry playing in an indoor soccer arena. It was nasty and gave him trouble for several days.

Keion also played football for the middle school team. They never won a game. It was sad but Keion played well and had fun. He was a wide receiver and on the kick off return team.

Football is now over but the day after that ended he was starting to practice for basketball. The fun just never ends around here!
