Keion's Basketball Season

Keion finished his Freshmen year of basketball with a record of 18-2. The record is quite remarkable considering they lost several of their starting players for multiple reasons. In the end the kids who were warming the bench became some of the starters. Keion did awesome and was a leader and captain on his team. They had the end of the year banquet and to be honest, it wasn't that impressive. Here are a few photos from the night. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket We had to put together place mats for the boys. Keion is lucky I got his finished, they met the day before I went in to have Emory to put them together. Photobucket Keion always does well in his sports. He will be attending a team as well as an individual camp this summer. We will also look into having him do some training to prepare for next year. The competition around here is stiff. We are now in the thick of soccer. The activities with this kid never end. We are proud of Keion's accomplishments!

Emory K

Our baby girl, as she was known for 9 months, was born on March 17th.
I really wanted her to come weeks earlier but in the end she was born on the perfect day. Both of our kids have holiday birthdays now!
Typically in Michigan at this time of year it is cold and usually still has snow.
The week Emory was born was unusually warm.
Kylan took a pic from my hospital window of what it looked like outside.

There isn't too much to tell about the birth.
I went in to the hospital a little after 7:00 a.m. and they had the pit flowing around 8:30.
I don't know the exact times of everything but a while later I started to feel contractions and get very uncomfortable.
Kylan tracked down the anesthesiologist (pays to have a doc in the family that works at the hospital you deliver at) and they gave me an epidural. Liquid heaven!
We were watching college basketball games on the t.v. and I dozed in and out.
A couple hours later the resident came in and checked me and said I was ready to go.
After 3 main pushes, she was born. It was 3:41 in the afternoon. Basketball was still on! Again, the epidural was heavenly.
Emory weighed in at 8lbs 8 oz and was 20 inches long.

Here we are meeting in person for the first time.
In the second picture I think she is trying to tell me sorry for making me so sick and miserable for so many months.
Apology accepted!

One of the more emotional moments for me was when Keion met Emory for the first time.

Emory got Keion a present.
It didn't change his first impression of her though.
He thought she stunk!
They only wiped her off and hadn't given her a bath yet so she did stink.

We had a cake made so anyone who came to visit her could have some and help celebrate her birth-day.
Photobucket
Some of her first visitors were Grandma Jan, Uncle Kevin, Christy & Phillip and Pat & Norma. We had other visitors as well but these were the only ones we got pictures of.

Here is Emory on her first day home from the hospital.
She is so swollen and bruised, poor girl.
Photobucket
She had to have a St. Patrick's Day outfit.
Photobucket
She hated her first bath.
The water was not warm enough. She is like her brother and wants it HOT.
The rest are random pics.

Emory looks like she is smiling in this pic.
I must have taken it just at the right time.
The second pic is how she likes to sleep, both arms and hands above her head, that's how you know she is really knocked out.

Keion has started to adjust to having a little sister and has been very helpful at times. I know it won't be long and Emory will be following him around everywhere he goes.
Kylan is completely smitten.
For all the months that we struggled coming to terms with having another baby and starting over, now that Emory is here we can't imagine our lives without her.
She truly is a miracle and blessing.
