4th of July

The weather this year for the 4th was unbearable. HOT and HUMID. It was over 100 degrees and super humid. I took my camera to the party we went to but never took any pics. My brain was fried, literally! The only pics we got of the day were of Emory in one of her many 4th of July outfits. She wore that little hat as long as it took for us to take her picture, then it came off. She wasn't liking it at all and despite all of that Keion almost got her to crack a smile!

I wish I had pics from the party. We went to some friends of ours and there was yummy food, a pool, a big bounce house and tons of people running around. It was so hot that we decided to forgo watching the fireworks that night because it was miserable outside. We came home and put Emory to bed and Keion went out in the neighborhood and watched the fireworks the neighbors were lighting off. It may not sound like it but we really did have a great 4th.

Skirt Burning

When I taught seminary (church class for youth) I had to wear a skirt or Sunday dress every day.
I wore the same dress everyday. It was black with an elastic waist band and I could easily slide it over my sweats or scrubs that I wore underneath. I was always sooo cold in the morning, especially during the winter. I often wore my slippers or slides as well. Such a classy look!
The kids and I would always joke about my outfits. The top would be what I was going to wear to work but the bottom was my pj's or sweats with the black skirt over the top, EVERY DAY!
Last summer when I was done teaching we were going to have a big party and burn the "seminary skirt".
Well, if you remember last summer was not a good one for me (sick and prego) and I was not up for partying at all. I almost threw the black skirt away but held on to it.
Just the other day, we burned the skirt!

Wouldn't you know, that skirt would not burn!
Kylan went and got some gas and poured it all over the skirt. Ryan finally dropped the match the sent the skirt up in flames.
It melted into a puddle of goo. So sad to see it go but it was a must. I never wanted to wear that skirt again or be tempted to. Come on, it was comfy, remember it had an elastic waist band!

I am so thankful for the opportunity to work with these kids. They have been a ton of fun and I get sad every time they grow up and go off to college. Pretty soon it will be Keion. I don't even want to think about it.

The Forgotten Picture

I wanted to post these pictures with the other Father's Day pics and somehow didn't get them on there.
They are just too good not to post.
I love the expression on both kids faces in this first picture. It would have turned out to be a cool pic if Keion wasn't so UNflexible! He couldn't reach down far enough to get Emory's feet even with his. Plus, Emory hated every minute of it and was screaming her head off.
It was hilarious and I could barely take the picture I was laughing so hard! The last one is a pic that I put together of Emory since she couldn't write or make a card for Kylan. Love these kids!

Father's Day & Sunday Dinners

My kids are lucky to have such an amazing dad! I have always loved the way Kylan just fell into the roll of "dad" when we got married. He was a natural and the truth is, he was a better parent than me. It was no surprise that when Emory came along he was 100% involved in everything. Seeing and watching Kylan be in the role of "dad" makes me fall in love with him over and over again. Kylan needed some new golf clothes so that is what he got for Father's Day. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket This picture cracks me up because all 3 of them are looking at the t.v. What a real sentimental moment! Photobucket We have started to get together with our besties once a month for Sunday dinner. We figure this last year of all being together is going to fly by and want to make sure we spend time together before we go our separate ways. So happens that Father's Day landed on the Sunday we could all get together. Love these dinners and our friends. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket And...because I never did get to post about Mother's Day because we were in Cleveland for one of Keion's soccer games, I didn't get to brag about this awesome gift I got! Photobucket I have been wanting a right hand ring for the longest and Kylan said it's time for me to start collecting pieces that can be passed on to our kids. Every time I buy some jewelry I am going to use that excuse, I think it will keep me from getting into trouble! I know I said it before but I really have the best hubby ever!
