Buick Open

We scored some tickets to the Buick Open from one of our friends. There is nothing like being on the 18th green, in the grand stands, on championship day. We were able to witness first hand Bubba Watson's sweet, 2nd shot onto the green and then his putt to try and send it into a playoff. He was soooo close. We were hoping it would go to a playoff but it was thrilling all the same. The weather was perfect. Good cloud coverage most of the day and no rain. Warwick Hills is such a beautiful course. I think Kylan and Keion would both love to golf there sometime! Next time we go (because we ARE going to go again!) we want to go during the week so that we can get autographs and visit with the golfers more. Plus we weren't allowed to take pictures. Bummer. You know I would have been all over that.
Waiting in line for our shuttle to take us to the car, a lady standing next to us was going on and on about Keion looking like Tiger and saying he could be the next Tiger Woods.
Maybe it was the skin color, or maybe the Tiger Wood's hat (which he and Kylan both got for free), but I like to think she saw his amazing athletic build!
This was such a fun day and I'm hoping that Tiger will be back next year. We will be all over that!!

Turtle Soup

There was a BIG turtle walking through our yard yesterday. Yes, I had to grab a camera and take some pictures (I am known as the camera Nazi).
I wanted to catch it and brew up some turtle soup. Really, why are you laughing? You don't think I would do it? Oh, your laughing because the boys would not eat it, right??
Working on the house has me far too busy to deal with making a pot of soup, that's why I didn't do it!

Here is Kylan trying to pester the turtle and get it to jump out of its shell (he does this to me too!). The turtle snapped at him a couple times and it definitely made me scared.
When turtles want to, they can get going at a pretty nice pace. Here the little guy, or maybe it's a girl-how do you tell? is strolling down the sidewalk.
Yummy, wouldn't that make some delicious soup?
This turtle is scowling at me, sorta like Keion when I won't stop taking pictures of him.
Next time I see a turtle in the yard I'll brew up a pot of soup and invite you all over!

3 flights to Idaho...$825.00
15 hours spent travelling home...gruesome
Getting to see family and friends... PRICELESS!

We rolled into town around midnight last night after a LOOOONG day of traveling.
My brother dropped us off at the airport around 7:00am Mountain time and then we got home at midnight, Eastern time.
My eyes feel like sandbags this morning.
Keion is still sleeping and it is after 10:00, a rarity for him. I think it will take some time adjusting back. I'm not even sure if I'm being coherent! My brain feels cloudy and I can tell that I probably need to still be in bed too.
There is so much left to do on our house that I can't sleep.
I'll post pictures once we get our stuff hung on the walls and it starts to look half-way decent around here.
The electrician is here so I have to run. I'm sure I'll have drama to report on soon!

Coming To A Close

It's my last day in Idaho (tears, sniffs). Kylan flew back home yesterday morning and had to start work today. I'm feeling for the guy, he is 2 hours behind schedule and is going to be dragging by the end of the day.
We have been staying in Boise for the past couple days, with my brother Robert and his family. It has been wonderful and we appreciate them taking us in and letting us visit. My sister in-law Kerri and her family were able to come over and visit with us one last time too. The kids had a great time playing together.
Last night we went to a birthday party for one of Robert's friends, Eddy Christensen. It was so fun to see him and his family. We had a great time gabbing with the girls and hanging out.
Today I will get to visit my girlfriend Mendi and see her new baby. That will be fun.
I'm anxious to get home and finish the house. It's so nice to come and visit family but it is also nice to finally get home and stop living out of a suitcase.
I think I'm most pumped about the Nalley chili and fry sauce that I'm bringing back with me!

My parents were wonderful to us while we were here. Thank you for all that you did for us and always do for us. The boys are going to be sad now that their food will not be made to order (my mom cooked whatever the guys requested, spoiled them rotten). We will miss all of you and hope that you come visit us soon =)

Photos

I just had to post this picture. We had my dad take a couple family pictures for us and Keion and Kylan were both miserable. In fact, they didn't want to take pictures at all but I forced them. This was Keion's natural pose and Kylan just joined in. I was still smiling (half laughing) for the camera like a goofball. We took so many pictures so I'm hoping at least one will turn out.

Shoshone Falls

There are so many wonderful spots to visit in Twin Falls, Idaho. I think Kylan under-appreciated some of the beauty because he was born and raised here. Being away for several years and living in flat country, we both have come to truly enjoy and look forward to our trips back west. There is nothing better than dry heat (humidity does a number on your hair) and mountains. Love it!

The other night we took a trip to the Shoshone Falls. It was unfortunate that the water wasn't very full and therefor the falls were weak. I still thought it was beautiful. I took a couple shots, especially for my friends back east, so you could all enjoy it with us.

My mom and grandma went for a little stroll. This is Grandma J. My grandma who has hands soft as butter and an attitude of a saint. She will be 88 yrs. old next month! As you can imagine, she has difficulty walking and getting around, plus she is basically blind. That doesn't stop her though. I love that you can use grandma's walker to sit on. It came in handy for this adventure. My mom was really acting it up for the camera. That must be where Keion gets it!

I can't believe they wouldn't let me jump on and get a "pump" to the car. Oh well. Look at that face, it is so angelic. Keion really does take after his great grandma. Last night I thought she asked for a beer (she is very funny and witty and I thought she was cracking a joke). She did but she meant her root beer. She loves root beer and so does Keion.

Hepworth Farm

Hold on, this is going to be a long one.
We went to Rupert yesterday to visit Kylan's family's farm. What a blast.
When Kylan was 11 years old, just like Keion, his parents forced him to drive a car for the first time. He didn't want to at all and bawled the entire time (wussy).
Kylan thought it would be a fun idea to have Keion try for his first time on the same country, gravel road.
The only difference, Keion loved it and was excited to give it a try. He would have loved it more if I wasn't in the back freaking out all the time. I'm a horrible backseat driver.
Keion sat on a skateboard so that he could see over the steering wheel. That was funny. Kylan held it still so it wouldn't move. We weren't planning on this drivers training lesson so we were a little unprepared. Hey, it worked nonetheless.
Kylan is giving Keion his first instructions.
We are getting ready to leave the park position and head into drive.
It's hard to tell but Keion is totally grinning.
He hasn't used the gas but no longer has his foot on the break so we are just coasting along.
Keion is getting more comfortable and has givin' the car a little gas so we are up to 10 mph.
Here we are just cruizin' along.
Wow, Keion is even going to turn the corner by himself.
Turning, turning, turning, and he made it!!! Pretty darn good if I don't say so myself.
Now he thinks he is a pro and bumps it up to 30 mph. This is when I start to get a little uneasy in the backseat.
Keion even parked the car and drove us out of the farm when we left. He loved it and Kylan was a great teacher. They will both do better next time without me in the car!
We were not quite ready to be at the farm. None of us had the proper clothing to do all of the stuff we wanted to but that didn't stop us.
I was fortunate to find a pair of pants in the closet so that I could go on the 4-wheeler.
Kylan wanted a picture of his grandparent's kitchen where he spent a LOT of time as a kid. It brought back so many wonderful memories for him to be back at the farm and in the house.
Uncle Craig let us take the 4-wheeler around the farm and this little boy Christian, whose father works on the farm, wanted to race us on his bike. He didn't speak English but Kylan tried to talk with him in Spanish so I think he thought we were buddies. You can't tell but he is peddling as fast as he possibly can to keep up (he looks like he is going to bust those little tires).
But not fast enough. He was eating our dust, literally.
The farm has both dairy and crop.
It didn't stink as bad as I thought it would. Not that you would want to have a candle made in this aroma but it wasn't as foul as some of the dairies I've driven by in Idaho.
Kylan was showing us the in's and out's of milking the cows. It was like we were on a field trip.
We went to the well where the water is pumped in. It looked crystal clear and we were bummed that we didn't have better clothes for jumping in. Next time.
I just had to feel how cold the water was but didn't want to fall in.
Just like river water, it was take-your-breath-away freezing!
Back at the farm, Kyle (Kylan's cousin), taught Keion how to ride the 4-wheeler.
Keion was lovin' life.
Just when he thought he couldn't' have any more fun in a day, Uncle Quinn took him for a ride on his motorcycle. Keion loved listening to the music and talking through the microphone on the helmet. What a blast.
It was a long day out at the farm but such a great time. Kylan shared stories with us and it was so enjoyable spending time with all of his family. Next time we will be more prepared with proper farm attire and take a dip in that well.

Grad Party

We had a huge family/friend BBQ on Saturday in honor of Kylan graduating from medical school. It was a success. We had family and friends that traveled quite a distance to make it to the bash. There was around 65-70 people who showed up for the party and I believe everyone had a good time.
I loved seeing all of our families in one spot but it was difficult to try and get quality time with all of them, when there were so many to talk to. We were able to stay at Kylan's sisters with all of his siblings when we first got into town and now we are staying with my parents and will stay with my brother before we fly out, so that will give us a chance to visit everyone on a more personal level.
A big thanks to our parents and those who helped with the food, we couldn't have done it without you. Thanks for all the sweet cards and gifts too!

Here are a couple pictures from the party:

This is one of my nephews. Is he the best looking kid you've ever seen or what?
After the party Kylan's family all went to their dad's grave site. We cleaned the headstone and left some flowers. It was nice to be there especially when the next day was Father's Day.

Keion snagged his Uncle Kevin's glasses, I think he can almost pull them off, just a bit too big!
Here is a picture of all of us with Grandma Peterson. I was laughing because it looks like Kylan is paired with his sister and I'm with her husband. Funny. Look at the little doll I'm holding, her brother was the handsome devil I had my picture with at the party. Beautiful kids, all of them.
